Soso [Sorcha Ní Cheallaigh] (they/them), is a derry/belfast-based writer, archivist, and multi-disciplinary artist interested in reality formation and body-space relationships.

Born in St. Helier on the island of Jersey, Soso returned with her mother to Northern Ireland in 1996 and grew up primarily in Derry, with time spent in Belfast, Donegal, and Dublin.

They are a recipient of ACNI Creative Individuals Recovery Award and the University of Atypical DDASF Award.

In 2019, they graduated with a first-class honours degree in English Studies from Trinity College Dublin with a focus on manuscript study, global popular culture, and Irish writing from early modernism to the present day. During their undergraduate studies, Soso wrote for Icarus and Tn2 Magazine and studied creative composition with Prof. Carlo Gebler. Their interactive dissertation project on the history and archival relevance of the literary magazine Icarus was supervised by Prof. Julie Bates and can be viewed at Understanding Icarus.

Soso is now studying part-time for a Masters in Poetry at the Seamus Heaney Centre in Queen's University Belfast. Occasionally publishing under the pseudonym 'Soso', their work can be read and viewed across cultural magazines, literary magazines, and zine collectives. They now work as a features writer for The Fall Magazine, and publish poetry and essays in magazines and journals nationwide. Their debut micro-chapbook PARASOCIAL REALITIES: Works of D-list Infatuation was published as part of the Ghost City Press 2021 Summer Series. Alongside writing, Soso has studied and worked with the Lyric Theatre Belfast's Drama Studio and the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain & Northern Ireland.
